Inaugural Black History Month Community Trailblazers Award Ceremony
The Center proudly welcomed McKeesport’s HBCU VISION for the organization’s inaugural Black History Month Community Trailblazers Award Ceremony on February 22.
Awardees JoAnne Rodgers and Arlene Harvey were joined by family and friends as they accepted their awards, along with special recognition by Congresswoman Summer Lee and Lt. Governor Austin Davis.
Mrs. Rodgers was the first African-American nurse to be hired at the McKeesport Area School District, and Mrs. Harvey was the first African-American woman to retire from a full career at the Carnegie Library of McKeesport.
