The McKeesport Regional History and Heritage Center is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization.

The Heritage Center is dedicated to preserving the legacy of the Mon Valley and the stories of people just like you. Your support of any amount helps preserve the history of this strong region and supports our mission to offer programs, educational opportunities, and a place for community building. Donations are published quarterly in our member’s newsletter.

Donations can be made in honor of an individual to mark a special occasion, such as a birthday or anniversary, or as a memorial remembrance.  All donations are tax-deductible.

Are you looking to volunteer your time to a local organization?

The Heritage Center has a vibrant, dedicated group of volunteers that welcome your participation!

Our volunteers perform a wide array of duties including but not limited to:

  • General office assistance (filing, photocopying, etc.)
  • Collections review and data entry
  • Assist with programs, special events, and fundraisers

No experience is required and you will be provided training and support for any task that you are interested in supporting.

Volunteers are able to perform their tasks any time during the Heritage Center’s opening hours, depending on what days and times work for you! We also need volunteers for special events and programs if you’d prefer more intermittent participation.

Our volunteers meet monthly on the last Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. We welcome new volunteers to attend.

  • Meet people and develop relationships with other volunteers in your community
  • Work with a really fun group of volunteers!
  • Flexible volunteer hours so that you can make this volunteer experience work for your schedule
  • Learn more about Mon Valley history and gain skills in genealogy research, event coordination and more
  • Annual volunteers appreciation event & volunteer of the month award

Contribute

The McKeesport Regional History & Heritage Center is unique in that almost everything, in our museum collection, has been donated by individuals who recognized the importance of preserving our shared history.

Due to limited space and relevancy criteria, guidelines are followed for collecting donations.  If your item pertains specifically to a person, place, or thing from McKeesport or surrounding communities (e.g., church records, store signs, photos of local interest, or books by local authors) the item will be reviewed by our collections committee.

If you have a question about a donation, please call, 412-678-1832 or email info@mckeesportheritage.org, for details concerning collection criteria.

Our museum collection is 100% donor-supported, therefore we do not pay for collection submissions.
